The daily schedule at Summer@Rectory is packed with excitement, blending personal interests with fun group activities! Every day kicks off with everyone together, celebrating each other’s achievements, sharing talents, and building friendships that last. From there, the energy only grows—mornings are filled with fascinating topics and hands-on learning, afternoons offer a bit of relaxation, and the whole campus comes alive with thrilling activities across our sprawling grounds. We wrap up each day just as we started, gathering as a group for unforgettable evenings of laughter, games, and shared fun!
Morning Programs
Mornings at Summer@Rectory are structured to engage students with enriching and skill-building activities. Academic sessions cover a variety of subjects, providing interactive learning that sparks curiosity and reinforces foundational skills. For students seeking more hands-on experiences, there are workshops focused on science experiments, technology projects, and creative arts. Morning activities are designed to stimulate minds and encourage active participation, ensuring students start their day with a sense of accomplishment and enthusiasm.

Introduction to Pre Algebra
Dive into the foundations of Pre-Algebra with this 2-week mathematics exploration. In this course, you will develop/strengthen your numeracy skills around fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, proportions, and integers. Along this journey, word problems will be solved using the understandings you have acquired. The groundwork this course provides will position you for greater success in a full Pre-Algebra course and beyond.
Introduction to Algebra
In this mathematics exploration, you will develop/strengthen your abstract reasoning and your ability to work with exponents, algebraic expressions and equations. Along this journey, word problems will be solved using the understandings you have acquired. The groundwork this course provides will position you for greater success in a full Algebra 1 course and beyond.
Introduction to American History
Ever wonder how the United States got their start? In this two week course students will explore the foundations of early America from colonization to the Revolutionary War. As they learn about major historical events, students will also build their academic vocabulary, historical writing, and other skills that will bolster their ability to learn and understand history.
Arts and Crafts
Summer Arts and Crafts is a dynamic and hands-on elective designed to unleash students' creative potential. Through a diverse range of individual and team projects, students will explore various artistic mediums such as painting, drawing, and mixed media, fostering both curiosity and imaginative expression. This elective will also encourage collaboration and critical thinking as students engage in the joy of self-expression through group projects.
Broadway Bound (Musical Theater)
As a participant in the Broadway Bound (Musical Theater) experience, you will explore all aspects of theater, including music, acting, and movement. Through daily improvisation games and scene work, you will develop the skills and confidence to participate in a short production performed at the program's conclusion. In addition, some time will be devoted to learning about the "behind the scenes" aspects of theater, including light and set design, costumes, marketing, and much more. Whether you are an experienced singer or actor or just someone who enjoys watching theater, there will be a role and opportunity for everyone.
Building, Understanding, and Innovation with LEGO and Robotics
Our LEGO and Robotics class combines the excitement of hands-on learning with the principles of physics and simple machines. Students delve into constructing LEGO kits that help them bolster their understanding of physics. For the later part of the course, students indulge in robotics which not only enhances their understanding of physics but also cultivates creativity and problem-solving skills through the thrilling world of robotics and LEGO building.
Creative Writing
Get creative this summer! In this class, we’ll let imagination be our guide as we write our own original stories. We’ll draw inspiration from the beautiful Rectory campus, receive feedback from our instructor and classmates, practice free writing, explore the works of famous authors, and put it all into practice as we write short pieces to share with the community.
English as a Second Language (ESL) - 1 & 2
ESL 1 (beginner) and ESL 2 (intermediate) will help you build a basic understanding of the English language, focusing on vocabulary, comprehension, acclimation, language structure, and proficiency. Develop and improve listening comprehension and spoken English, learn academic vocabulary and the expressions you need to communicate effectively in the classroom, and increase fluency and confidence when communicating your thoughts in English. Conversations will present you with interesting, focused grammar points.
Geography Jam Session
Are you curious about the world outside your home? Have you ever wanted to travel to different continents, visit amazing features created on Earth, and experience different cultures? This class will allow you to travel the world without the annoying fees, customs inspections, and language barriers! Using our virtual reality headsets, we will travel to stunning physical features, plus ancient and modern sites all around our world stopping at each continent along the way! On their journey, students will sample food from different cultures, learn a few keywords in a variety of languages, and create personal maps displaying what they’ve learned along their journey. This class will literally take you around the world in 10 days!
Music Tech
Music Technology is about creating and capturing sounds and then using technology to manipulate, edit, and produce a final product to achieve specific artistic and functional goals. In this course, you will discover how technology is used in music production. Learn how to use the Soundtrap application to create projects such as ringtones, movie scene soundtracks, original beats, and other musical compositions.
Wonders of Physics
Embark on an exhilarating journey into the fascinating realm of physics and astronomy with our program designed specifically for middle school students! In this engaging course, young minds will unravel the mysteries of motion, gravity, galaxies, black holes and more through hands-on experiments, interactive demonstrations, and exciting team activities. From understanding the laws of motion to exploring the wonders of light and sound, participants will grasp fundamental physics concepts and explore the magnificent objects in the universe while developing essential problem-solving skills. Join us for an immersive adventure that sparks curiosity, ignites creativity, and lays the groundwork for a lifelong love of science!
So You Think You Can Research?
You may think you know what “research” means when a teacher starts a research project or paper in a class. Did you know you are “researching” every day when you pick up your smartphone, tablet, or computer or when you shop online or at a store? Through a variety of activities, projects, and discussions students will discover and learn how research plays an important role in daily life and how to be more effective regardless of the device used.
Sports Explorations
This summer, we will offer a series of clinics that include: soccer, basketball, tennis, and mountain biking. We will start each session with some strength training and conditioning. Then we will move on to specific skills for each sport. We will end with a competition or contest where you can put what you learned into practice on the field, court, or trails.
Video Storytelling
Are you curious about filmmaking, newscasting, or digital storytelling in any format (TV, social media, video game design, VR, etc.)? Together, we will explore video storytelling as students learn the basics of film and news production including cinematography, script writing, storyboarding, editing, and interviewing. Students will have the opportunity to be in front of the camera and behind the camera through various roles (director, cinematographer/camera operator, writer, interviewer, interviewee, editor, etc.).
Afternoon Electives
Afternoons at Summer@Rectory are packed with activities kids love! They might dive into the pool, ride mountain bikes through wooded trails, or join a game of tennis, basketball, or soccer. For those drawn to creativity, the art barn offers endless hands-on projects, while the Wolf Den is a great spot for small group games and activities. With a mix of organized events and free-choice options, afternoons at Summer@Rectory offer something fun for everyone.

For those interested in creativity, the art barn provides space for artistic projects, while the Wolf Den hosts games and group activities. Field trips to local attractions add excitement and variety, giving students the chance to bond and make lasting memories. Weekends at Rectory are all about fun, exploration, and time to connect with friends.
