Rectory Summer Reading 2019

Summer is here, and we encourage our students to continue exploring and investigating the world around them. What better way is there to learn something new than to sit down in a cozy spot with a great book! During the summer of 2019, Rectory students are expected to read at least two books: the required book(s) for their grade and a book of their choice. This summer, our entire school, including our students in K-9 and our Faculty, are reading books about the environment!

Elementary School (Grades K-4)

**Elementary School Reader Response Forms are due no later than September 13, 2019.

In addition, the elementary teachers have created a "FIREFLY Summer Reading Log" for our elementary children. For fun, we ask them to use the log as they read both picture books and chapter books during the summer months. The intent is for our children to always have a book nearby that they are engaged with and interested in. Books that are read independently may be logged in, as well as those that are read aloud with family members. The children may print out as many copies of the log as needed, and bring them back to school with them during the first week of school.

We have recommended some reading lists and resources that are developmentally appropriate for elementary children. We hope that you spend some time browsing through these resources with your child and find books that are suited to your child's interests and reading levels!

Middle School (Grades 5-9)
