Private Music Lessons Program

The Private Music Lessons Program is Rectory's unique after-school program that brings high-quality music instruction to Rectory students and non-Rectory students throughout our local community in northeastern Connecticut. Weekly, private lessons from accomplished musicians accommodate any level of musical development. Instruction is available on the most band and orchestral instruments as well as piano, guitar, and voice. The private lesson faculty are experienced music instructors and performers from the area.

Samantha Wiegel is the Private Music Lessons Program Coordinator. Please feel free to contact Mrs. Wiegel with any questions regarding the MARS program or the registration process: samantha.wiegel@rectoryschool.org.

MARS Registration

All private lessons run for nine weeks of weekly lessons. Most are for thirty minutes; however, more experienced students find that a forty-five or sixty-minute lesson is necessary. Students are expected to attend all lessons regularly and must notify the teacher in advance of any schedule conflicts. Lessons cancelled on the day of the lesson may not be able to be made up. If a student does not show for a lesson, the teacher is not obligated to make it up.

To apply for a scholarship, please contact Jill Borbeau at TEEG, (860) 923-3458 or jillb@teegonline.org.

INSTRUMENTS AND SHEET MUSIC:

Students are responsible for supplying their own instruments during the lessons (exceptions: drums and piano) as well as any books required by the instructor. Anyone interested in renting an instrument can call Gerry’s Music Shop, (800) 724-7402. Be sure to mention Rectory School in arranging your rental. Gerry’s can also provide supplies such as reeds, strings, and books. Please call them directly for your supply needs, and they will be happy to deliver them to the school. All deliveries are made free of charge on Wednesdays during the school year. The school receives no profit from any sales or rentals through Gerry’s Music Shop.
