Housed in John and Millie Green Hall, the Henry B. Smith Learning Center is home to Rectory’s Learning Services program. Through personalized, one-to-one instruction, learning specialists help students better understand how they learn, develop effective strategies, and build the confidence to take greater ownership of their education.
At the heart of our approach is the belief that every student can lead their own learning journey with the right support. By recognizing their strengths and understanding their challenges, students grow not only academically, but also as self-aware and increasingly independent learners.

Rectory’s Learning Services program provides individualized instruction based on each student’s learning profile, strengths, needs, and goals.
Learning specialists focus on the whole student, creating personalized learning plans informed by the student, family, classroom teachers, academic performance, and relevant evaluations. Research-based practices, regular progress monitoring, data collection, and ongoing communication help ensure that instruction remains purposeful and responsive as each student grows.

Personalized 1-to-1 Instruction
Learning Services sessions take place individually with a learning specialist during the regular academic day.
Each student is thoughtfully matched with a specialist who can best support their individual learning profile and goals. The learning specialist develops a personalized plan that identifies areas of focus, instructional strategies, and opportunities for continued growth.
Because student needs rarely fit into a single category, sessions may incorporate several areas of focus. A student strengthening reading or writing skills, for example, may also work on planning, task initiation, organization, self-monitoring, or self-advocacy.
The goal is not simply to help students complete the work in front of them. It is to equip them with transferable skills and strategies that can be applied independently throughout the academic day and beyond Rectory.
Every student’s learning journey is different. Families interested in exploring Learning Services are encouraged to speak with our team about their child’s individual strengths, needs, and goals. Through Learning Services, students are encouraged to:
