Rectory Summer Reading
Elementary School (Grades K-4)
Summer is the perfect time to spark curiosity and dive into the joy of reading! All elementary students are encouraged to read at least two books: the required grade-level book(s) and one of their choice. For extra fun, students can participate in the Rectory Summer Reading Challenge! We also recommend keeping a variety of picture books and chapter books nearby to keep young readers inspired. Find a cozy spot, grab a great book, and let the adventure begin.
Ready to dive into summer reading? New and returning families, please visit the Parent Portal (Blackbaud) to access grade-specific reading lists, response forms, and helpful resources.
Middle School (Grades 5-9)
As part of Rectory READS (Reading for Exploration, Acquisition, Discovery, and Success), we encourage our middle school students to explore new ideas and perspectives through reading at least two books over the summer. Two separate lists by grade are offered. Please choose according to your rising grade level. When students return in the fall, Rectory faculty will host engaging book circles during the first two weeks of school to discuss the required reading. Be ready to share your thoughts and participate in these meaningful conversations!
