CARe Curriculum

At CARe, we follow the Primary Caregiving Model to foster strong, trusting bonds between children and teachers. Infants and toddlers naturally seek security from caring adults; by honoring this instinct, we create a nurturing environment where children feel safe to explore, grow, and build confidence.

Each child is paired with a primary teacher who takes the lead in daily care—feeding, diapering, curriculum, and communication with families. This consistency helps children feel secure, while giving parents a clear point of contact who knows their child deeply. As children’s needs evolve, their primary teacher may shift to ensure the best match—whether they need extra comfort, structure, or encouragement.

Our intentionally small teacher-to-child ratios make these close relationships possible. While all staff support each classroom, children and families can rely on their primary teacher as a trusted connection. This model builds self-esteem, trust, and resilience, preparing children to take their next steps with confidence.

At CARe, our infant–toddler program is designed to nurture growth during the sensory-motor stage of development (birth to age two). Using the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards as a framework, our teachers create experiences that foster curiosity, connection, and confidence.

For infants, the focus is on building trust and emotional security through the Primary Caregiving Model. Each child is paired with a primary teacher who provides consistent care and nurturing interactions—rocking, singing, reading, and face-to-face play—that support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

As toddlers become more independent, learning shifts to hands-on exploration and problem-solving. Teachers design activities that encourage discovery, language development, and cooperation, while honoring each child’s family and cultural background. Group and individual play, songs, stories, and authentic outdoor experiences help toddlers gain new knowledge, build resilience, and delight in the world around them.

At CARe, our preschool program supports children ages two through seven as they move through the pre-operational stage of development. Preschoolers are naturally curious, creative learners, and our classrooms provide opportunities to explore, experiment, and grow through play.

Using the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards as our framework, teachers design an integrated curriculum that nurtures social, physical, cognitive, and creative development. Lessons are guided by children’s interests and the rhythms of the seasons—such as harvest, hibernation, life cycles, and gardening—while daily outdoor exploration deepens their connection to the natural world.

In this supportive environment, children gain independence, embrace routines, and learn that mistakes are part of discovery—building confidence, resilience, and joy in learning.
