Holiday music was in full swing this year as all of Rectory’s musical groups had the opportunity to perform in a variety of settings. RECapella, Rectory’s acapella group, was asked to perform at the annual Tree of Life Ceremony to raise awareness, money, and hope for the families and supporters of the Hospice program of Northeastern CT. Individual student and faculty musicians shared their musical gifts with the community with a return to our annual Lessons and Carols Holiday Chapel, renamed this year as “Stories and Song” which celebrated the gift and symbol of light in all of the religious and cultural traditions this time of year. While the Elementary School had an early holiday concert for the Thanksgiving Holiday, the Middle School students returned to the Tang stage after two years and added holiday joy to the entire community, both in-person and online as all of the groups performed a range of holiday favorites. It is always an important milestone for our youngest middle school groups, the 5th Grade Beginning Band and the 6th grade Ukulele Class, to have their debut performance in front of an audience! One of our more advanced groups, the Rectory Jazz Ensemble, was featured playing music they had recorded for the Holiday E-Card, spreading holiday cheer to our global Rectory community. On the last day of school, our Elementary students gathered together in the Tang Center to sing their “Top 10” favorite holiday songs karaoke-style, using a microphone and playing to a cheering crowd of their enthusiastic peers! It was a musical season at Rectory and was appreciated more than any other year. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday season as well!
