And The Answer Is...

Which long-time faculty member (over 40 years) is known at Rectory as “ye of gentle pen?”

Do you remember teacher, tutor, mentor, and editor, Ms. Thelma Barker? Over the course of her 42-year Rectory School career, Ms. Barker taught fifth-grade English, tutored in the Language Retraining Program (renamed Individualized Instruction and, now, Learning Services), mentored all, edited The Rectory News, and proofread letters, administrative materials, papers, and countless teacher reports on students. She long will be remembered at Rectory School as “ye of gentle pen” because, no matter how heavily edited a piece might be, the writer always received gentle instruction rather than criticism.
