What is the object referred to as “Big Red,” who owned it, and when?
Rectory’s third headmaster, Mr. John A. Green, was a teacher, coach, and dorm master at Rectory for six years in the early 1960s. In 1974, he returned to Rectory as Headmaster and led the School for the next 16 years (1974-1990). “Big Red” was a large, red comb that Headmaster Green wielded on unsuspecting heads of hair, especially before they entered the dining hall at meal time.
