Last year, about 40 billion tons of carbon dioxide were pumped into the air. This means that global warming will not increase by only a few degrees, as hoped. It will increase far more than that. The effects of this increase are terrifying and expensive, ranging from the damage of ancient ruins to ocean acidification. And, it's entirely the fault of human beings.
Natural resources are very limited and they are being wasted. What can we do to help? Only 0.03% of earth's surface water is drinkable (ReadWorks.org). The largest desert in the world, the Sahara Desert, used to be a savanna. Glaciers are melting in Antarctica. This past winter (2017/18 SY), I was on the JV Ice Hockey team at Rectory School. This is my first year at Rectory School and my first year playing on the Rectory JV Hockey team. I had played hockey before in China, for about three months, so I had some basic skills. I was interested in this sport the very first time I played it because I like the competition and the sportsmanship; it is teamwork. I feel alive when I am playing in the ice rink. I don't care where I am playing, I just have a lot of fun! I felt like this sport was a perfect fit for me!
