Dear Rectory School Community:

On behalf of The Rectory School Board of Trustees, we acknowledge and appreciate Tom Army’s exceptional leadership as Headmaster.  Tom has developed a strong curriculum; built new campus facilities; a kindergarten and elementary school established; the School now accepts female boarders; Rectory has full enrollment and is thriving; and Tom has been a mentor to so many young persons during his long tenure.

Tom will retire as Headmaster at the end of the 2009 school year and will become Headmaster Emeritus; he will be available to assist the new Headmaster, for a year as needed, with transition.

To ensure a smooth and successful transition, a search firm that specializes in headmaster recruitments has been retained, a Search Committee will be appointed in the near future, and the entire Rectory community will be involved in the process.

Thank You, Tom and Virginia, for the inspirations, mentoring, and leadership you have provided.  We are grateful for all that you have done for the School and we celebrate your extraordinary commitment and legacy to the Rectory School community.
